Mohave County Sheriff Jim McCabe is a 28 year law enforcement veteran. Sheriff McCabe began his career with the Mohave County Sheriff's Office in 1986.
Sheriff McCabe and his wife Lisa have been married for 33 years. The newlywed couple moved to Arizona after being married for 1 year. They have lived in Mohave County for 32 years. Sheriff McCabe rose through the ranks as a deputy, sergeant, lieutenant, and was appointed Chief Deputy Sheriff in 1997. Chief Deputy McCabe was appointed to Sheriff effective August 1, 2014, by the Mohave County Board of Supervisors after the announced retirement of Sheriff Tom Sheahan. Sheriff McCabe will serve the current term through 2016.
Sheriff McCabe is currently serving on the National Sheriff's Association, Arizona Sheriff's Association, Arizona County Attorneys and Sheriff's Association, International Association Chiefs of Police, Americans for Effective Law Enforcement, F.B.I. National Academy Associate, Law Enforcement Executive Development Association and Valley View Medical Center.
Sheriff McCabe attended and graduated from Arizona Law Enforcement Training Academy and the F.B.I. National Academy at Quantico in Virginia.
