The Stanly County Detention Center is charged with the goal of aiding public safety by providing detention services for persons charged with or convicted of various criminal and civil offenses, as ordered by the court. The Detention Center operates under the authority of the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office and under the direction of the Detention Administrator, two Lieutenants, four Sergeants and four Corporals. Overview The Stanly County Detention Center was constructed in 2006 and all operations officially moved into the facility in 2008 from a 54 bed facility to a 133 bed facility. The Detention Center is modular in design, which will allow the facility to be further expanded as the population of Stanly County continues to grow. It consists of several administration offices, a public lobby and visitation, Booking and Releasing areas, a Medical Station, and 5 Inmate Housing Blocks.
