The Miami-Dade County Corrections and Rehabilitation Department serves the community with preparing county jail inmates for a successful return to the community by providing the Miami-Dade county inmates with a safe and secure detention. There are five correctional facilities within the Miami-Dade County Corrections and Rehabilitation Department: The Pre-Trial Detention Center, Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, Women’s Detention Center, the Metro West Detention Center and the Training and Treatment Center. On average, these facilities house 7,000 county inmates awaiting trial or serving sentences of 364 days or less. The correctional department also offers a Boot Camp Program for youths, a medical unit at Jackson Memorial Hospital and a Work Release Center.
