The Shoshone County Sheriff's Office Jail Division protects and serves the public by providing for the care, custody and control of Pretrial detainees and sentenced inmates. Detention deputies will be cost conscience in providing a safe, humane and professional environment for the inmates and office personnel. The Jail Division will strive to comply with the standards for jails set forth by the Idaho Sheriff’s association and other state and federal standards and laws.

The Shoshone County Jail was built in 1972 and houses 64 inmates. The jail houses state inmates, federal inmates and county inmates.
The Sheriff’s Labor Program with the Jail Division running the program, has a number of responsibilities. The main responsibility is to serve the public, and this is done by helping the elderly with snow removal, lawn work, splitting wood. The program also picks up trash on the freeways and county Rd ways.
