Holmes County, Mississippi is located in central Mississippi and partially in the Mississippi Delta. Within our 764 square miles, our population was 19,198 according to the 2010 census. Holmes County was named in honor of David Holmes, the first governor of Mississippi. The county seat is located in Lexington, MS. Holmes County is mostly a rural area with acres of land for hunting, fishing, and outdoor activities. As the head law enforcement agency in the county, we assure to provide quality law enforcement service to our citizens and visitors.
