The Person County Detention Center is located on the second floor of the Person County Sheriff’s Office at 120 Court Street. You can access the second floor to the Detention Center by taking the elevator or stairs located in the main entrance of the Sheriff Office.
Phone Call Procedures
Inmates can use the phones in the cell block(s) to make “collect” calls. Someone will need to setup an account for the inmate with Paytel. Call 1-800-PAYTELL ( 1-800-729-8355) Inmates can purchase phone cards on Wednesday.
The inmate may also purchase phone cards through the commissary for ten dollars. Calls are limited to fifteen minutes and three way calling is prohibited. Inmates are prohibited from using an inmate telephone to contact a Detention Center staff member.
All phones will be turned on at 8:00 am and tuned off at 10:00 pm. All inmate telephones will be turned off during meals, shift change, and any other time deemed necessary by administration.
Visitation Policy
Inmates are allowed (2) 15 minutes visitation period per week
All visitors must visit at the same time.
All visitors 16 years of age or older must produce a valid photo ID prior to being allowed to visit.
Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Inmates can lose their visitation privileges for inappropriate behavior and failure to follow rules of the Person County Detention Center.
Inmates Money Account
All inmates currently have their own commissary account. This account is used for the purchase of personal toiletries and food items. All money that is in the possession of the inmate at the time of processing will be automatically applied to this account. Money can only be applied to an inmates account via cash or money order. The detention center only accepts money for inmates accounts on Wednesday between the hours of 8:00 am-4:00 pm. You can also send cash or money order via postal service on any day of the week.
